Influenza

Influenza is an infectious disease marked by depression, fever, acute catarrhal inflammation of the nose, the larynx and the bronchi, neuralgic and muscular pains, gastro-intestinal disorders and nervous disturbances. This disease is caused by a virus and often occurs in epidemic form during seasonal changes. It is known as vata slaishmika jwara. During seasonal changes, particularly with the coming of the rains, the equilibrium of doshas in a normal individual gets slightly disturbed. Persons who are prone to constipation and a morbidity of the nasal mucous membrane and throat are more likely than others to fall prey to this disease.
