How to Overcome Premature Ejaculation?

By – Dr. Mahinder C. Watsa, the Sexpert

Premature Ejaculation (PE) is as prevalent as the common cold.  It occurs when a man does not have control over ejaculation, and as a result, he and his partner are not sexually satisfied.

Dealing with premature ejaculation? You’re not alone. Approximately 30 percent of men experience PE. This often embarrassing sexual issue can affect men of any age and also create interpersonal issues among the couple.

Although PE manifests as a physical problem its cause is most often the anxiety the male feels. Other reasons why it occurs is hurried sexual experience, excessive sensitivity of the glans (head of the penis), fear of losing erection, prolonged absence either from intercourse or masturbation and fear of detection.

Misconceptions for e.g. trying to imitate the prolonged action seen while watching porn is the beginning of a person’s anxiety.

PE must be tackled at several areas:

  1. The partner: may feel frustrated, unsatisfied and abusive and hence non-cooperative. She is motivated to exhibit tolerance, patience and love.
  1. The brain: there are special cells at the sex pleasure center of the brain which bring about an early ejaculation. Recently an oral medication has been found helpful to delay the ejaculation.
  1. Kegel exercise by the male: this is done as follows, start the flow of urine, stop it count slowly 123 restart it and try and repeat it at least 10 times before it is finished. This helps to exercise the muscle over the penis and around the anal region. It has been noticed that it helps and the exercise must be continued life time.
  1. Experts: have advised during masturbation to do stop start technique to develop better control. They have felt that the essence of PE is the lack of adequate voluntary control over the ejaculatory reflex.

The couple is instructed to make love in their usual fashion until the man has a good erection. He then lies on his back and closes his eyes. His partner masturbates him. When he feels near orgasm he tells his partner to stop and in a few seconds the ejaculatory urge abets. Again before the ejaculation is lost stimulation is restarted. This stop and start technique is repeated four times and on the fourth trial he ejaculates. During this time it is important that he is focused on his erotic sensation and nothing should distract him. During intercourse after inserting his penis using good lubrication he rests in the penis for sometime before starting, he then uses the stop start technique to continue so that both are satisfied.

  1. Squeeze Technique: This is a method of learning better ejaculatory control during masturbation at erection the male strokes himself till he has a desire to ejaculate he immediately stops and squeezes with his two fingers below the penis and thumb on the upper part either at the base of the penis or the base of the head.
  1. Local anesthetic: in the form of gel or spray is also known to be helpful in some cases as it delays the excitement felt over the glans penis.

The male needs to learn how he can satisfy his partner through skillful foreplay so that she can reach an orgasm after which, he allows her to rest for 12 minutes and then starts intercourse. PE to be relieved requires patience. To help him there are medications available both ayurvedic and allopathic.
